Load out for August 2026
Reminder – August event will be held in conjunction with Urban Tactical on Aug 15th
This is a big one. We joined with Urban Tactical to make a very special end of summer experience.
What to bring:
Come prepared to shoot pistol from concealment. Every stage will have a concealment component, and no your fishing vest over a 5″ duty gun in a duty rig isnt gonna cut it. If you simply cant thats fine but non-concealment will carry an offsetting handicap.
This is a full 3-gun night.
There will be a pistol stage
There will be a 2-gun co-op pistol/rifle stage (could be shot with PCC, max distances will be within 150yds)
There will be a 2 gun shotgun/pistol stage
You will need a non-white admin light
You will need a handheld tactical flashlight.
Finally for ammo
Bring 100 rounds of your favorite rifle ammo (or PCC if you’re feeling froggy)
Bring 100 rounds of pistol ammo
Bring 50 rounds of bird (no steel shot)
bring at LEAST 4 slugs
You should bring a plate carrier or chest rig / bandoleer / tactical ikea bag to carry magazines for the rifle stage. If you don’t have a way to carry at LEAST 3 mags you will be very sad. Yes pockets work.

Ground Rules
Safety is our number one priority!
This is not al discipline for everyone. Shooters are required to have knowledge and experience with their firearms. The 180 rule is of limited use during our exercises. This will require all shooters to have common sense and most importantly FOLLOW ALL COMMANDS GIVEN BY THE LEAD OR RSO. Doing so will result in smooth operations. All of the shooter’s equipment should be inspected and in proper working order before each scheduled discipline date. This includes all batteries, comms equipment, white, IR, and thermal lighting equipment. Now this discipline is not all about night vision equipment, shooters are to participate with the equipment they have, and can afford. No shooter is expected to go into debt attempting to participate.
In future news letters I will share listings of helpful equipment not only for our discipline but for others and to take in mind for preparedness.
Schedule
NOTE For August 2026 event: For August we will be running a joint event with urban tactical for their final night event so it will be held on Aug 15th (3rd sat not 1st)
Discipline is to take place on the evening of the First Saturday of each month. The safety brief will begin two hours before sunset. Discipline events will start 30 mins after the safety brief allowing for any final equipment checks. An email list will be generated and times for arrival will be passed through the established comm channel.
Equipment
Standard equipment required to participate is as follows;
- weapon mounted light – all weapons used to participate
- Appropriate admin lights for navigating / performing admin tasks (preferrably red or super low candela white)
- Load bearing equipment properly fitted to the shooter. You will need to carry spare magazines/ammo for any platforms in use, be able to safely stow your weapon without using your hands, i.e. slings etc, and carry/wear marker lights on your body.
- Comms (see below) Radios are not required but can make your experience smoother.
- Hydration equipment (its the desert, and even if its cold you will sweat and dehydrate)
- Red OR Green (no white/blue/purple) marking equipment to be located on shooter. If you don’t have marking lights, event staff will have chemlights available for a nominal fee.
Optional equipment
- infrared/ thermal equipment to include LAMs, NVGs
- Infrared/ thermal identification
- Layered clothing. This is the desert and events often begin during warm daylight and shift to very chilly or downright cold evenings. Be prepared to adapt.
All further equipment is at the discretion of the shooter
Comms guide:
As we typically run 2 or more concurrent ranges event comms can be incredibly important to safe and smooth event operations
RSO/Event comms: You can listen to RSO event announcements at 462.5625 (This corresponds with FRS/GMRS channel 1). RSO / Range comms are filtered so you cannot reply to RSO traffic. This is useful for announcements and updates during the event.
In the event there is an issue using FRS/GMRS channel 1 our fallback comms station will be 462.6875 (FRS/GMRS channel 6)
If you want to coordinate with others we highly recommend you use discriminator filters on your group comm stations so cross-traffic doesn’t become an issue.
The following are not requirements but guidelines for successful comms setups:
- Make a bandplan with whom you expect to communicate with. This includes primary and fallback frequencies.
- Ideal comms can be worn with/under your ear pro or integrate with your ear pro. Comms should not conflict with your PPE and should not be filtered / muffled by your ear-pro.
- Mic setups should be one-hand operable so if you are retaining a weapon you can use a mic.
- Identify radio storage and cable routing ahead of time to prevent hot-mic situations (radios in elastic pouches should have button guards)
- Do not use voice activation.
- Suppress extraneous noises from your radios (baofeng spoken alerts for example)
- Cover your radios face. They are bright and its rude to people using night vision.
